Medicine and Dentistry (and current reimbursement systems) have traditionally focused on disease detection and management. While this model works great for big problems, it often fails to prevent the big problems from happening in the first place. At Keystone Dental, we’ve adopted the Risk Model of care, where we screen, identify, and help manage risk factors based on an individual’s risk for disease- hopefully before there is a big problem. This allows us to provide less invasive care that is also less expensive.
A simple example is looking for a tooth cavity to treat with a filling vs. assessing someone’s risk for decay and then managing their risk so they are less likely to get the cavity in the first place. We use this model of care to evaluate your risks across five critical areas and implement appropriate measures to lower those risks.
